Flock Press is thrilled to announce a call for stories for our upcoming sports romance anthology. The title is still under wraps until we reveal our top eight authors — a small, curated team of writers coming together to create something steamy, swoony and unforgettable.

 

Bring your A-game: adrenaline-fuelled action, high-octane stakes, electric chemistry, fierce rivalries, and romance that makes us sweat!

About the anthology

• Theme: Sports romance (think Jilly Cooper meets Meghan Quinn)

• Final word count: 15–20k for selected stories (if selected deadline is end of June 2026).

• Curation: A variety of criteria will be used to select the very best stories and writing across a range of sports and romance tropes.

• Publisher: Flock Press

• Editor: Anna Foxkirk

• Proven experience: Our previous anthology, The 12 Tropes of Christmas, earned an Amazon bestseller flag.

Submission details

• Deadline for 3k word writing sample: 28th February

• What to submit:

  • Story idea / synopsis (1 page)

  • 3k excerpt of your story (PDF or DOCX)

• Entry fee: $30 AUD per submission payable via PayPal.me/AnnaFoxkirk

  • Important: Include your full name and story title in the PayPal note.

• Selection: The top 8 stories will be chosen for publication. Successful applicants informed by end of March 2026.

• If selected, deadline for full story draft end of June.

• Post-selection fee: If your story is selected, a $150 AUD fee will be requested to cover professional editing, formatting, and marketing costs.

Diversity welcome

We encourage a wide range of voices, experiences, sporting backgrounds, and storylines. Cheeky, heartwarming, dramatic, or unconventional stories are all welcome!

• Subject line: Flock Press Sports Anthology Competition – Your Full Name – Story Title

• Email body / attachments:

  • One-page synopsis or outline

  • 3k word excerpt (PDF or DOCX)

  • Proof of $30 entry fee payment (screenshot or PayPal transaction ID)

Your submission will only be considered once all steps are complete.
